Hello Lovelies,
It's time for the preppy running update... The biggest news of which is that I will not be running the San Francisco Marathon on July 25th. I know... I know... it's a big change of plans. However, with all the preparations for medical school and the big move from Texas to California, plus the fact that we're now pushing miserable close to temperatures in the 100's in central Texas I've decided that this summer is not my marathon summer. The ever knowledgeable Keri from Blue Eyed Runner blog once told me that she catches a cold after every half and full marathon, and on top of every other busy thing we have this summer I just don't want to risk being sick the first week of medical school. I mean who wants their first impression at orientation to be as the girl with the bright red runny nose...EWWW!
As much as I hate to be a 'quitter,' I cannot describe the wave of relief that washed over me when I made the decision not to run the marathon. It's been a few weeks now and I still feel a sense of relief about it. It's the right decision for me at this point in time. So, thank you to those of you who donated on my behalf. Your donation will still be used by the charity I selected, and your contribution is greatly appreciated.
In the meantime I've been running just for the fun of it. Caring more about my heart rate in the heat, than the distance that I'm covering. After training so hard this spring for the half marathon and starting the training for the full... it's so much fun just to run for the joy of running again!
So, for now lovelies, the marathon dreams are on hold. But, you can rest assured I'm scouting the Bay Area for marathons in the next two years... and there's been some serious discussion with future class mates about my starting a running club on campus in the fall.

I think this is a fantastic decision, and obviously the best choice for you. There will be other races!!
You need to do whats best for you:) take care sweetie!! xoxo
Overload is never a good thing. Besides, it seems like California is boasting a marathon or half-marathon every other week ... there'll be others. In the meantime, good luck with the move!

Aww I'm sorry it didn't work out! Med school is definitely more important right now. It will happen soon...I would love to do CIM one day so look into that one :)
It sounds like you have a lot going on and I am so glad that you were encouraged yesterday at Internet Cafe Devotions. During those time it is such a comfort to know that He does see you and desire to strongly support you!
May God bless you as you move, get settled and start school! New beginnings are so exciting,
Stacey
