Preppy Pleading and Crossing of Preppy Fingers

Hello Lovelies,

I'm sending this quick shout out as a little request, please say prayers and keep your fingers crossed and send wonderful well wishes our way. I know this is going to sound shallow, so I'm going to try to illustrate my point so you can hopefully understand it.

What are you praying for, well wishing for, and crossing your fingers for? Well the perfect house in California. You see I'm having a heck of a hard time finding a place for us to live in California. We have three dogs, and two of them are over 50 pounds which automatically rules us out of most apartment complexes (we're not really apartment people anyway so that doesn't hurt our feelings too much). But even finding a rental home with three dogs is tough. The next reason is that although I'll be living in the beautiful Bay Area, the specific community I'll be moving to (Vallejo), is run down and a little sketchy. So finding a decent home in a decent neighborhood that costs less than $1700 a month, has proven difficult.

Enter dream duplex #1

Dream duplex was a 4 bedroom, but gorgeous on the inside. It was at the top of our price range ($1650 but dropped to $1465). The home was first listed in September or August of 09, and the price kept dropping until much to my own heartbreak the property was finally leased in January 10. I even contacted the land lord and stated how much we loved the property and told him we would guarantee to rent in in July if there was anyway he would hold it. He of course, said no.

Then imagine my surprise when Dream Duplex Part 2 opens up. I'm not exactly sure how this home is a duplex but I think the second entrance is around the side. Here is the challenge. Dream Duplex Part 2 is only a 2 bedroom and thus, is renting for a very, very reasonable rate for the area. So I'm hoping and praying and crossing my fingers that this place will stay open until June when we will be able to head out and sign a lease for July.... But with the price I'll be surprised if it stays on the market more than a month....

Anyway, I know it seems a little shallow but when most of the rental houses in this area are in the $1600 per month range and look like this:

You can understand my overwhelming desire to rent this for $1000... right?

So please say lots of prayers, but also pray that I will trust that God will open the door and help us to find the perfect house in the perfect neighborhood. Even if it means saying goodbye to dream duplex Part 1 and Part 2.

Praying for you guys!

I totally know what you mean about this, though. I keep looking at housing in New Zealand and have been discouraged at what is available in our price range. The cost of living there is so stinkin' high, and whenever I see a place that I like, it gets snatched up. I keep reminding myself to trust that God has something perfect for us, and I know that he has the same for you, too!

Definitely praying for you guys :)

I don't think its shallow to want a nice home in a safe community and I know something perfect will come your way. Hopefully you didn't get the duplex you wanted because something even better is coming! You guys will be fine...

Praying! IT is really hard when you are moving to an area where basic housing looks so different that where you are from as well!!! I can see why your heart is lusting after the duplex units. We start our house search in the new area very soon so I can relate so much!
