It's been a minute too long....

Well hello lovelies,

I'm afraid it's been a minute too long since I showed my face in blog land! I've been catching up on all your blogs randomely, and am so sorry to have missed out on so much!

My days are spent in medical school, either studying or feeling guilty for not studying. I love being here, but medical school truly creates an interesting dynamic. I am constantly aware of how much I've learned so far and how far I've come, while also being constantly humbled by how little I know and how little I manage to retain.

It's almost Christmas! This is historically my favorite time of year, the cold weather, the focus on family, the carols, and the red, and green, and sparkly things up all over town! This year, I'm enjoying it, but also a little distracted. But, lets be honest, I'm continuously a little distracted since school started.

Ah... speaking of school, since you know... school is all I really have time for these days... I've had some interesting moments in the past few weeks. For example:

When explaining the grading ruberic for doctoring exams Dr. S said, "Professionalism is like pornography, you know it when you see it." So... there you have it folks....

Oh, and today I lost a whole bunch of points on a timed patient exam, because I took 'too long' caring about my patients comfort, and didn't get through the entire ruberic (I stand humbled once again). Because, you know, heaven forbid the patient is comfortable.

I'm gonig to Tanzania this summer, have I told you that, No? Well... I'm going to Tanzania this summer. To provide medical care at a hospital that is the only healthcare option for 60 miles. I'm so excited. For me the desire to be a Dr. and the desire to deliver healthcare to Africa have been one and the same, and here I am... a meager first year medical student with the opportunity to go and learn and help!

All right loves, the not-studying guilt has caught up to me and I must return to the depths of my pathology book, I hope you are enjoying the holiday season! And I fully intend on posting more frequently during my break!
